Tata EV Retail Sales Breakup Aug 2026
Tata sold 13,433 EVs in August 2026, retaining the number one position in 4 wheeler EV space. Punch EV remained the second best-selling EV overall, Sierra EV more than doubled its volumes in its second month, and a price cut helped revive Curvv EV.
Tata sold 13,433 electric vehicles in India in August 2026, down 6.6% from July's 14,386 units. Compared to August 2025, Tata's sales are up by 66.6% where it sold 8,065 units. The month-on-month dip is in line with the broader slowdown seen across India's top-selling EVs this August. Model wise, Punch EV led with 3,468 units, followed by Nexon EV at 2,769, Tiago EV at 2,342, Harrier EV at 1,786, Sierra EV at 1,405, Curvv EV at 1,217, Xpres-T cabs at 443 and Tigor EV at 3.
Punch EV
Punch EV sold 3,468 units in August (of which 38 units were of the previous generation), down 12.9% from July when it sold 3,983 units. But year-on-year up by 136.6% (1,466 units). Tata launched the facelift cum tech-lift Punch EV in January with a bigger battery using prismatic cells and 6-in-1 architecture. The strategy seems to have paid off. They reduced the number of variants and introduced a battery-as-a-service dual loan option to grab buyers' attention. Punch EV was the second best-selling EV overall in August trailing Mahindra's XEV 9S.

Empowered+ S was the best selling variant with 1,843 units (54%). With only ₹30,000 difference between Empowered which sold 504 units (15%) and Empowered Plus S, the latter becomes the value-for-money pick. Adventure with 762 units (22%), offering most of the required features, becomes the obvious second choice among budget-conscious buyers. Smart and Smart+ sold 2 and 319 units respectively. Buyers overwhelmingly opted for the 40 kWh battery pack as only 5 units of 30 kWh pack were sold of the 3,430 units of the new Punch EV.
Nexon EV
Nexon EV is Tata's oldest nameplate in EVs and currently offered with a 45 kWh prismatic cells battery pack. It sold 2,769 units in August, of which 14 units were of the previous generation. That's down 19.3% from July's 3,430 units, but up 2.3% year-on-year from August 2025's 2,707 units.

Entry variants were the best sellers. Creative led with 880 units (32%), followed closely by Fearless at 845 units (31%), together accounting for nearly two-thirds of Nexon EV's volume. Surprisingly, the higher trims lagged behind with Empowered+ A registering 554 units (20%) and Empowered 471 units (17%). Empowered+, now a discontinued variant, sold just 5 units, possibly of old stock.
Tiago EV

Tata launched the new Tiago EV, targeted at budget-conscious city commuters, on May 31, 2026. Even though the battery specifications did not change, the facelift brought a fresh exterior and a completely new interior theme.
Tiago EV sold 2,342 units in August, of which 126 units were of the previous generation. That's down 5.1% from July's 2,469 units, but up 68.1% year-on-year from August 2025 when 1,393 units were sold.

Unlike Nexon EV, the top variant is selling the most here. Creative+ led with 1,752 units (74.8%), and is available only in the 24 kWh pack. Pure+ sold 464 units (19.8%), of which only 2 were the smaller 19.2 kWh variant. The base Smart variant recorded zero sales, and previous-generation units made up the remaining 126 (5.4%).
Harrier EV
Harrier EV sold 1,786 units in August, down 14.2% from July's 2,082 units, but up 21.5% year-on-year from August 2025's 1,470 units. Tata began Harrier EV deliveries in mid-July 2025, so August 2025 was its first full month of sales, marking this month as Harrier EV's commencement of its 2nd year in sales.

The mid variant Fearless+ was the best seller. Including its AWD version, Fearless+ accounted for 931 units, 52.1% of Harrier EV's total volume. Within the non-AWD Fearless+, 779 of 869 units (89.6%) were of the 75 kWh pack over the smaller 65 kWh option, which registered 90 sales (10.4%).
Across the lineup, buyers overwhelmingly preferred the bigger battery, with the 75 kWh pack accounting for 1,397 units (78.2%) against 389 units (21.8%) for the 65 kWh.
277 units, 15.5% of sales, were AWD (QWD). Within AWD, the top trim was preferred, with Empowered AWD selling 215 units (77.6% of AWD sales) against Fearless+ AWD's 62 units (22.4%).
The remaining variants found smaller numbers — base trim Adventure sold 47 units, Adventure S sold 252, and the non-AWD Empowered added 341.
Sierra EV
Sierra EV is Tata's latest launch with deliveries commencing in July. It sold 1,405 units in August, up 104.2% from previous month 688 units.
Buyers overwhelmingly preferred the bigger battery, with the 75 kWh pack accounting for 1,173 units (83.5%) against 232 units (16.5%) for the 63 kWh.

Empowered A, the ADAS-equipped non-AWD trim, led with 525 units (37.4%), with Empowered AWD A close behind at 421 units (30.0%). Together the two ADAS trims made up 946 units, 67.3% of total Sierra EV sales. The base Empowered, without ADAS, sold just 133 units (9.5%) despite being the cheaper option. Adventure sold 182 units, Pure S 140, and the entry Pure managed just 4.
Curvv EV
Curvv EV sold 1,217 units in August, of which 39 units were of the previous generation. That's down 6.7% from July's 1,305 units, but up 104.5% year-on-year from August 2025's 595 units.
The price reduction, and streamlining the product to two variants in the ‘Series X’ branding and a single battery pack, has helped rejuvenate a product that was struggling.

Accomplished X led with 742 units (61.0%), followed by Empowered X at 436 units (35.8%).
Tata's August dip mirrors the broader slowdown across India's top-selling EVs, but the year-on-year picture points to a brand executing well: facelifts brought Punch EV and Tiago EV back to strong growth, Sierra EV added an entirely new nameplate to the lineup, and Curvv EV's price cut helped revive a model that had been struggling.
