ElecTree is an independent Indian publication covering electric four-wheelers — news, specifications, pricing, sales data, ownership guidance and long-distance travel. This page sets out how we research and write, where our vehicle data comes from, how we handle mistakes, and how we keep advertising separate from editorial judgement.

Who we are

ElecTree is published by Electree EV Solutions Private Limited, based in New Delhi, and has been operating since 2024. We are not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer, dealership group, charging network or automotive retail business.

We are a small, focused team. Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it, and every author has a profile page describing their background and what they cover.

What we cover

Our scope is deliberately narrow: electric four-wheeled passenger vehicles sold in India. That includes new model launches and pricing, variant-level specifications, range and charging, monthly sales and registration data, government policy and subsidies, ownership costs, and practical guidance for buyers and existing owners.

We do not attempt to cover the entire automotive market. Staying within one subject allows us to build genuine depth rather than shallow coverage across many categories.

How we research and write

All articles on ElecTree are researched and written by people. We do not publish machine-generated articles.

Each article is written from primary sources wherever those exist, then reviewed for factual accuracy, technical correctness and clarity before it is published. Where a claim is contested, uncertain or based on a single source, we say so in the article rather than presenting it as settled.

We do not publish anonymous rumours, unattributed "leaks" or speculation dressed as reporting. If we cover an unconfirmed report from another publication, we name that publication and make clear that it is unconfirmed.

We avoid clickbait headlines. A headline on ElecTree should tell you accurately what the article contains, including when the answer is undramatic.

How we source vehicle data

Sales figures, prices, specifications and range data are the parts of this site readers rely on most, so it is worth being precise about where they come from and what they mean.

Our sources, in order of preference:

  1. Manufacturer press releases, official brochures, specification sheets and price lists
  2. Official government data and notifications — vehicle registration records held by Regional Transport Offices, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways circulars, state EV policies, subsidy schemes, and homologation and safety certifications
  3. Manufacturer statements made at launch events and to media directly
  4. Authorised dealer price lists, where a manufacturer has not published a figure centrally

What our numbers mean:

  • Sales figures are retail registrations, not manufacturer dispatches, unless we state otherwise. We use vehicle registration data recorded by Regional Transport Offices through the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' VAHAN system — meaning vehicles actually registered to buyers. This differs from the dispatch or wholesale figures manufacturers and industry bodies typically report, which count vehicles sent to dealerships and may not yet have reached a customer. The two can diverge substantially in any given month. Registration data is also provisional: figures for a recent month may rise as late entries are recorded, so a number we publish early in a month can change.
  • Prices are ex-showroom unless explicitly labelled otherwise. On-road prices vary by state because of registration charges, road tax, insurance and local levies, and we do not present a single on-road figure as though it applies nationally.
  • Range figures are the manufacturer's certified claim — typically ARAI or MIDC tested — and are presented as such. Certified range is measured under standardised test conditions and real-world range is usually lower, often significantly so depending on speed, terrain, climate control use and ambient temperature. Where we have first-hand observations, we report them separately and identify them as our own.
  • Charging times are manufacturer claims for the stated charger specification and depend heavily on the charger actually used, battery temperature and state of charge.
  • Subsidies and incentives change frequently and differ by state. We record the position as at the date shown on the article and cannot guarantee it remains current.

Updates. Prices and specifications in the Indian market change often — sometimes several times a year. We update our vehicle pages when a manufacturer announces a change and we become aware of it. Articles carry a visible "Updated on" date whenever they have been materially revised after publication.

If a figure on this site does not match what a dealer tells you, the dealer is more likely to be current than we are. Please tell us, using the correction process below, so we can check and fix it.

First-hand experience

Where we describe how a vehicle drives, charges or behaves in real use, that is based on direct experience — we drive the vehicles we write about, and we conduct pre-delivery inspections on customer vehicles through our PDI service. Our long-distance EV road trip coverage is written from journeys actually taken, not compiled from other sources.

Where an article is compiled from manufacturer data rather than direct experience — as is necessarily the case for a vehicle that has just been announced — we do not imply otherwise.

Use of AI

Articles on ElecTree are written by people, not by AI.

We occasionally use AI tools to produce or assist with images, illustrations and infographics where no suitable photograph exists. Any such image is reviewed by a person before publication and is never presented as a photograph of a real vehicle, event or person.

We do not use AI to generate article text, headlines, reviews or specification data.

Corrections and updates

We publish quickly on a subject where facts change, and we will sometimes get things wrong. When we do, we want to fix it fast and say that we have.

How to report an error

  • The link to the article
  • What specifically is incorrect
  • The correct information, and a source for it if you have one

What we do

  • We investigate every correction request we receive, whether it comes from a reader, a manufacturer or a dealer.
  • If we confirm an error, we correct it promptly.
  • Where a correction changes the substance of an article — a price, a sales figure, a specification, or a claim about a vehicle or company — we note at the article that it has been corrected and what changed. We do not quietly edit and pretend the error never happened.
  • Minor fixes to spelling, grammar or formatting are made without a note.
  • Where an article is updated because circumstances have changed rather than because we were wrong — a new price, a new variant, a revised registration figure, a policy change — the article shows an updated date.

Requests from manufacturers and dealers are assessed on the evidence provided, exactly as a reader's would be. A commercial relationship does not entitle anyone to have coverage changed, and we will not remove accurate reporting on request.

Editorial independence and advertising

ElecTree carries display advertising only. Advertisements are served through third-party advertising networks, and we do not control which specific advertisements appear.

  • We do not publish paid articles, sponsored posts or advertorials.
  • We do not accept payment, vehicles, or any other consideration in exchange for coverage or for favourable treatment.
  • Advertisers have no advance sight of our articles, no influence over what we cover, and no ability to have coverage altered or removed.
  • No manufacturer, dealer or advertiser has any ownership interest in ElecTree.

If this ever changes — if we begin publishing sponsored content or earning affiliate revenue — we will update this page and label such content clearly and prominently wherever it appears.

Attribution and third-party material

Where we report information first published elsewhere, we say where it came from and link to the original. Where we quote a person, we attribute the quote and indicate the context in which it was said.

Images supplied by manufacturers are used under the terms on which manufacturers make press material available. Where an image comes from another source, we credit it. If you believe we have used your material incorrectly or without appropriate permission, contact us at suhail.gulati@evelectree.com and we will address it promptly.

All original text, photographs, illustrations, data compilations and other material published on ElecTree are the property of Electree EV Solutions Private Limited and are protected under the Copyright Act, 1957 and applicable international copyright law.

  • Quote a short extract from an article for the purposes of reporting, review, comment or research, provided you attribute it to ElecTree and include a working link to the original page.
  • Link to any page on this site.
  • Share our articles on social media using the sharing options provided.

What you may not do

  • Republish an article in full or in substantial part, on any platform, in any language, whether or not attributed.
  • Reproduce our photographs, illustrations or infographics without written permission.
  • Copy our specification tables, price data, sales data or comparison data for use in a competing publication or database.
