Ola Electric Opens Dealer-Run Stores in Seven States
Ola Electric has started its dealer-led retail expansion across seven states, with more than 500 dealer-operated outlets planned over the next two quarters. The move marks a shift from its earlier company-operated retail model.
Ola Electric has opened its first dealer-operated stores across seven states, marking a shift in its retail strategy as the company expands its sales and service network across India.
Ola Electric has started its dealer-led retail rollout with new stores in Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The company plans to expand the network to more than 500 dealer-operated outlets over the next two quarters.
The move gives dealer partners a larger role in Ola's sales and service operations. Since entering India's electric two-wheeler market, the company has largely built its physical retail presence through its own network. It opened its sales and service network to dealer partners in August, making the latest rollout an important change in its distribution approach.
First Stores Go Live
The first dealer-operated outlets are now operational across the seven states, giving Ola a wider physical presence across different parts of the country.
The rollout includes Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Ola has not stopped at the initial batch, with the company targeting more than 500 dealer-operated stores over the next two quarters.
The move follows Ola Electric’s earlier decision to open its sales and service network to dealer partners. ElecTree previously reported on the company’s decision to bring dealers into its retail network, and the latest rollout marks the next step in that strategy.
Ola Electric Opens Up to Dealers
Two Types of Retail Outlets
Under the new approach, Ola's company-operated locations will serve as experience centres, while dealer-operated outlets will form the larger sales and service network.
This is a notable change from the company's earlier retail strategy. Ola had built much of its initial physical network around company-operated stores rather than following the conventional dealership model used by most established automobile and two-wheeler manufacturers.
The addition of dealer partners gives the company another route to expand its retail footprint.
Sales and Service Both Matter
The new outlets are expected to play a role in both sales and after-sales support. That makes the expansion relevant beyond the number of stores Ola plans to add.
As the company increases its physical presence, the dealer network will become another customer touchpoint for people looking to buy, test or service an Ola electric scooter.
The effectiveness of the strategy will ultimately depend on how consistently these outlets can deliver the sales and service experience that customers expect from the brand.
A Shift in Ola's Retail Strategy
Ola's move towards dealer-operated outlets brings its retail model closer to the approach traditionally used across India's automobile industry.
For years, established two-wheeler and car manufacturers have relied on dealers to build a presence across a large and geographically diverse market. Ola initially took a different route by maintaining greater control over its retail network.
The company is now combining the two approaches: company-operated experience centres on one side and dealer-operated outlets on the other.
With the first stores already operational and more than 500 planned, the next phase will show whether this hybrid model can help Ola expand its reach while maintaining a consistent customer experience across its network.
