MG Windsor EV Now Costs Up to ₹60,000 More in India
JSW MG Motor India has raised Windsor EV prices by up to ₹60,000 across its lineup, with the base Excite variant seeing the steepest hike. Specifications, BaaS options, and warranty terms remain unchanged.
JSW MG Motor India has hiked the ex-showroom prices of the Windsor EV across all five variants, with increases of up to roughly ₹60,000. The revised prices are now live on MG's official website.
New Prices
| Variant | New Price (ex-showroom) |
|---|---|
| Excite | ₹14,69,800 |
| Exclusive | ₹15,99,800 |
| Essence | ₹16,99,800 |
| Exclusive Pro | ₹17,89,800 |
| Essence Pro | ₹18,99,800 |
The entry-level Excite has taken the steepest hit, rising by close to ₹60,000. Industry reporting on the revision breaks down the increases further: the Exclusive and Essence variants are up by roughly ₹46,900 each, the Exclusive Pro by around ₹52,000, and the range-topping Essence Pro by about ₹40,000. All five trims are now costlier than before the revision, which appears to have taken effect immediately.
No Change to Specifications
The price revision hasn't touched the car itself.
- The Excite, Exclusive, and Essence variants continue with a 38 kWh battery pack.
- The Exclusive Pro and Essence Pro variants continue with a 52.9 kWh prismatic cell battery, certified for up to 449 km of range.
- All variants use a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor producing 136 PS and 200 Nm of torque, mated to an automatic transmission.
- Suspension is unchanged: McPherson strut up front, torsion beam at the rear, with disc brakes on all four wheels.
- Charging times remain as before: A 7.4 kW AC charger takes about 9.5 hours for a 10–100% charge on the Pro variants, while DC fast charging (up to 60 kW on Pro variants) gets a 20-80% charge done in roughly 50 minutes.
Battery-as-a-Service Option Remains Available
The BaaS route, lower upfront price in exchange for a per-km battery rental, is untouched. It starts at ₹9.99 lakh + ₹3.99/km for the standard Windsor EV, and ₹12.25 lakh + ₹4.50/km for the Pro variants. Under BaaS, the Exclusive Pro and Essence Pro are separately listed at ₹12,24,999 and ₹13,09,999 respectively.
Unchanged Warranty and Ownership Terms
The battery warranty remains a lifetime warranty for the first owner across the range, including the Exclusive Pro. The 3-60 buyback programme, up to 60% of ex-showroom value returned after 3 years or 10,000 km, whichever comes first, also continues unchanged.
Part of a Wider Industry Trend
MG isn't alone here. Rivals including Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Kia, and Toyota have all raised prices recently citing input costs. BYD India has gone through this three times in 2026 alone, most recently on July 1, hiking select ATTO 3, SEALION 7, and SEAL variants by ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh, alongside launching a new eMAX 7 Comfort variant at ₹27.90 lakh. Rising input costs, inflation, and currency fluctuation are the common threads cited across the industry.
