Hero MotoCorp is working on something exciting in the electric vehicle space. Recent design patents filed in India suggest that the Vida NEX 2, a unique leaning electric trike, is moving closer to becoming a real production model.

What Makes the NEX 2 Special?

The standout feature of the NEX 2 is its leaning twin-wheel front suspension. According to the design patents and reports, this system allows the vehicle to tilt into corners similar to a conventional two-wheeler, while the additional front wheel is intended to provide greater stability compared to traditional three-wheelers.

The patent images show the production design remains very close to the futuristic concept Hero showed at EICMA 2025. It has:

• NEX 2 (the trike): A proper riding vehicle with leaning capability and three wheels, aimed at daily urban commuting with better stability and fun factor.
• NEX 3: A small, enclosed four-wheeler microcar for all-weather protection and slightly longer trips.

Among these, the NEX 2 stands out as the most practical everyday option for Indian roads, offering a good balance between scooter-like agility and three-wheeler stability.

Expected Pricing

Since the NEX 2 is still in the development stage, Hero has not announced official prices. However, given its premium positioning, advanced leaning technology, and features, industry estimates suggest it could be priced in the range of ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh (ex-showroom) when launched. This would place it above regular electric scooters but well below four-wheeler microcars.
