Hector Tomahawk vs Sierra.EV: More SUV or Better EV Hardware?

MG has played a smart game. By launching a five-seat version of the Hector Tomahawk, it has created a direct challenger to the Sierra.EV while offering buyers a substantially larger electric SUV at a lower price.

Hector Tomahawk: More SUV for less

The Hector Tomahawk is 405 mm longer than the Sierra.EV, measuring 4,745 mm against 4,340 mm. Its 2,810 mm wheelbase is also 80 mm longer.

The five-seat Tomahawk offers 610 litres of usable boot space, compared with 450 litres for the Sierra.EV when measured to the parcel shelf.

For buyers prioritising space, luggage capacity and road presence, the Hector Tomahawk provides more physical SUV while costing less.

Sierra.EV: Stronger EV hardware and technology

The Sierra.EV responds with a larger 75 kWh battery, compared with the Hector Tomahawk’s 69.2 kWh unit. Its claimed range is 665 km versus 517 km, while peak DC charging capability stands at 120 kW versus 90 kW.

The Sierra.EV also offers a stronger technology package, including Level 2+ ADAS with 22 features, Auto Park, a HypAR head-up display, a triple-screen cabin and a 12-speaker JBL audio system.

The Sierra.ev fights back with stronger EV hardware and technology, including a 75 kWh battery, 665 km claimed range, 120 kW DC charging and a more advanced cabin and assistance package.

Which one makes more sense?

The Hector Tomahawk is the space-and-value choice. It is larger, offers more usable boot capacity and costs ₹1.79 lakh less.

The Sierra.EV is the EV-and-technology choice. Its premium buys a larger battery, longer claimed range, faster DC charging and more advanced equipment.

MG’s five-seat strategy ensures that the Hector Tomahawk can challenge the Sierra.EV on price without trying to copy its proposition. The final decision comes down to whether the buyer wants more SUV for the money or stronger EV hardware and technology.
