Ather Konarc Launched in India at ₹99,999

Ather Energy has launched the Konarc electric scooter in India, introducing a new model based on the company's EL platform. The Konarc starts at ₹99,999, ex-showroom Bengaluru, and is positioned as a new addition to Ather's electric scooter range.

The Konarc is planned across the S and Z product lines, with the range extending up to 200 km under the IDC test cycle. The currently detailed S variants offer 100 km, 125 km and 161 km IDC range options.

Ather has announced prices for three S variants. The Konarc S 100 is priced at ₹99,999, while the S 125 and S 161 are priced at ₹1,21,999 and ₹1,44,999, respectively. These prices are ex-showroom Bengaluru.

The detailed specifications currently available cover the S 100, S 125 and S 161 variants.

Three battery options

The detailed Konarc S variants use three battery capacities. The S 100 gets a 2.1 kWh battery, the S 125 uses a 2.7 kWh battery, while the S 161 gets a 3.5 kWh battery.

All three variants use a PMSM motor and produce 16 Nm of maximum torque. Peak power is rated at 4 kW for the S 100 and 4.7 kW for both the S 125 and S 161. The listed top speed is 70 km/h across these three variants.

Ather also provides separate TrueRange figures from the IDC figures. The S 100, S 125 and S 161 have TrueRange figures of 80 km, 100 km and 130 km, respectively.

New EL platform underpins the Konarc

The Konarc is built on Ather's new EL platform, bringing a new architecture to the company's electric scooter range.

The scooter uses a steel unibody chassis with metal body panels and gets a 14-inch front alloy wheel paired with a 12-inch rear alloy wheel. Suspension travel stands at 90 mm at the front and 100 mm at the rear.

For everyday practicality, the Konarc gets a 31-litre under-seat boot and 2-litre front storage. Its wheelbase measures 1,352 mm.

AeBS adds electronic braking technology

Ather has introduced its Advanced Electronic Braking System, or AeBS, with the Konarc.

The system uses electronic control to manage braking behaviour and works alongside regenerative braking. Ather says AeBS is designed to reduce stopping distance and minimise rear-wheel lockups.

The system is positioned as a higher-spec feature within the Konarc range.

450W charger comes as standard

The Konarc S gets a 450W onboard charger as standard.

The S 100 takes around four hours to charge from 0 to 80%, while the S 125 takes approximately 4 hours 30 minutes. The S 161 takes around 5 hours 40 minutes for the same charging window.

A combined charger with an additional 450W capacity is available as an add-on for the S 100 and S 125 and is included with the S 161. With the combined charger, the listed 0 to 80% charging times are two hours for the S 100, 2 hours 25 minutes for the S 125 and 3 hours 10 minutes for the S 161.

Ather Grid access is available as an add-on for the S 100 and is included with the S 125 and S 161. Ather lists up to 13 km of range in 10 minutes for the S 100 and up to 15 km in 10 minutes for the S 125 and S 161 on Ather Grid.

Higher variants get more connected features

The Konarc S 100 gets a 4.2-inch DeepView display, while the S 125 and S 161 feature a 7-inch DeepView display.

The higher S variants also get features such as call and music controls, remote charging status, 4G LTE and GNSS connectivity, OTA updates, Find My Scooter and Tow & Theft notifications.

The S variants also offer features including AirWalk, reverse park assist and AutoHold, depending on the variant.

Battery warranty can extend up to 10 years

The standard vehicle and battery warranty for the Konarc S is 3 years or 30,000 km, whichever comes first.

Ather also offers extended battery coverage. Depending on the package selected, coverage can be extended to 8 years or 80,000 km, or up to 10 years or 100,000 km.

The 10-year coverage is therefore an extended warranty option and not the standard battery warranty.

Service interval extended to 10,000 km

Ather has increased the Konarc's service interval to 10,000 km.

The company says the EL platform enables longer service intervals and faster periodic servicing, with the aim of reducing the frequency of scheduled maintenance.

With the Konarc, Ather is introducing a new platform while giving buyers a wider choice of battery capacities and range options.

The ₹99,999 starting price, practical storage, metal construction, multiple charging options, connected features and longer service interval form the core of the Konarc's proposition.

The wider lineup is planned to include the 200 km IDC S variant and the Z line, while detailed technical specifications are currently available for the S 100, S 125 and S 161.

The Konarc gives Ather a new platform for addressing different range requirements while retaining the company's focus on connected technology and everyday electric mobility.
