Range Rover Electric Bookings Open in India: 600 km Range, 118.5 kWh Battery

Range Rover has opened bookings in India for its first all-electric model. The SUV gets a 118.5 kWh battery, twin electric motors producing 550 PS and 850 Nm, and a claimed range of up to 600 km.
Range Rover has entered the electric vehicle space with the first fully electric version of its flagship SUV. The new Range Rover Electric is now available to order, bringing a battery-powered drivetrain to the same luxury-focused and capability-led formula that defines the Range Rover brand.
For India, the company has opened bookings with a ₹10 lakh booking amount, while the final vehicle price has not yet been announced. The Range Rover Electric is being built at JLR's Solihull plant in the UK.
Range Rover Electric: Battery, Power and Range
The Range Rover Electric uses a 118.5 kWh usable lithium-ion battery with a double-stack layout and 344 prismatic cells. It is paired with twin permanent-magnet electric motors, each producing up to 260 kW. Together, they deliver 550 PS and 850 Nm.
Range Rover quotes an electric range of up to 600 km under the WLTP test cycle, while the company's India website lists an estimated real-world range of up to 535 km. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

350 kW Fast Charging
The Range Rover Electric uses an 800V electrical architecture, allowing it to accept up to 350 kW of DC charging power.
On a compatible 350 kW rapid charger, Range Rover says the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes. The SUV can also add up to 220 km of WLTP range in 10 minutes under the company's specified charging conditions.
For AC charging, Range Rover quotes less than seven hours for a 0-100% charge using a 22 kW charger. With a 7 kW AC charger, the company estimates the charging time at less than 19 hours.
The vehicle also uses a heat pump as part of its electric powertrain system.
Electric Power Meets Range Rover Capability
JLR's challenge with the Range Rover Electric was not simply to make the SUV electric. The company has also focused on retaining the all-terrain capability associated with the Range Rover name.
The electric SUV can wade through up to 900 mm of water. Its Integrated Traction Management system works with the electric motors to manage torque delivery across different surfaces, while the new Single Pedal mode works with Terrain Response for off-road driving.
Range Rover says the vehicle can climb slopes of up to 45 degrees. The company also lists a maximum towing capacity of 2,500 kg.
Electric propulsion also changes the way the SUV delivers its performance. With instant torque from the motors and a dedicated traction management system, Range Rover has focused on making the vehicle responsive while maintaining the controlled driving experience associated with the brand.
The Familiar Range Rover Formula Goes Electric
The design of the Range Rover Electric is deliberately familiar.
Rather than creating a completely separate visual identity for the EV, Range Rover has retained the model's recognisable proportions and design language. The electric version receives specific changes, including an aerodynamically optimised grille, redesigned wheels and a tailored underbody intended to improve aerodynamic efficiency.
The cabin follows the same philosophy. Range Rover describes it as its quietest model yet, with electric propulsion reducing drivetrain noise and creating a quieter interior environment.
The company has also integrated EV-specific functions into the Range Rover experience, including charging management through the Range Rover App and digital monitoring of the vehicle and battery.
Battery Warranty and Long-Term Monitoring
Range Rover is offering an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty for the traction battery, whichever comes first. The company also uses Digital Twin technology for remote monitoring of battery health.
The approach reflects the importance of battery durability for a luxury EV with a large battery pack. Instead of treating the battery only as a power source, Range Rover has built monitoring and charging management into the wider ownership experience.
India Bookings Open, Price Still Awaited
For Indian buyers, the Range Rover Electric can now be booked with a ₹10 lakh booking amount. The final India ex-showroom price has not been announced yet.
The India-bound model will be offered in the Range Rover line-up, with specifications including Autobiography and First Edition for the standard-wheelbase version. Range Rover also lists long-wheelbase versions in SV, SV Ultra and SV Black specifications.
The Range Rover Electric represents an important transition for the brand. It takes one of the company's most recognisable products and changes its powertrain without changing the basic idea behind the vehicle.
The result is an EV built around three numbers that define its proposition: 118.5 kWh, 600 km and 550 PS.
But its bigger test will be whether customers looking for the traditional Range Rover combination of luxury, comfort and all-terrain capability see electric power as an evolution of that experience rather than a departure from it.
