BMW i5 LWB Bookings Open in India With 669 Km Range

BMW India has opened bookings for the BMW i5 Long Wheelbase (LWB) in India. Bookings opened on August 21, 2026, through BMW's authorised dealer network, with customers also able to register their interest on the BMW India website.

The i5 LWB will be locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai. It will become BMW India's first locally produced electric sedan and the second electric BMW model to roll out of the Chennai plant.

81.6 kWh Battery, Up to 669 Km Range

The BMW i5 LWB gets an 81.6 kWh high-voltage battery and offers a claimed range of up to 669 km under the MIDC cycle.

The electric sedan produces 268 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. BMW has also equipped it with adaptive rear-axle air suspension and enhanced ground clearance for Indian road conditions.

Long Wheelbase Focuses on Rear-Seat Space

The i5 LWB measures 5,175 mm in length and has a 3,105 mm wheelbase. BMW says the extended wheelbase provides additional space for rear passengers and contributes to a more spacious cabin.

The model is also designed around the needs of the Indian market, with its suspension and ground clearance adapted for local road conditions.

First Edition Limited to 99 Customers

BMW will launch the i5 LWB with an exclusive First Edition limited to 99 customers.

The First Edition gets a dedicated rear-seat entertainment package with a tablet and tablet holder. The cabin also features BMW Individual Silver Bronze accents, Fineline open-pored fine-wood trim, Silver Bronze inlays and First Edition badging.

The special edition will be offered with a Carbon Black Metallic exterior and Titanium Bronze exterior accents.

Price Yet to Be Announced

BMW has not announced the India price of the i5 LWB as part of the booking announcement. The company is currently accepting bookings ahead of the sedan's market launch.

For BMW, the i5 LWB brings together local production, a long-wheelbase body and an electric powertrain aimed at India's premium sedan market. Its 81.6 kWh battery and claimed 669 km MIDC range add another long-range option to BMW's growing electric portfolio in the country.

The key numbers are 81.6 kWh battery, up to 669 km MIDC range, 268 hp, 6.7-second 0-100 km/h acceleration and a 3,105 mm wheelbase. Pricing and the official market launch date are yet to be announced.
