Ather's Cheapest Electric Scooter Yet Is Coming on 29 August. Here's What to Expect

Ather Energy is gearing up to launch its most affordable electric scooter yet at Community Day 2026 on 29 August. Built on the company's new EL platform, the upcoming model is expected to be priced between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.25 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Ather's first major push into the mass-market commuter segment.

A New Platform, Not Just a New Scooter

The upcoming scooter will be the first production model based on Ather's new EL platform, which was unveiled during Community Day 2025.

Unlike Ather's existing scooters, the EL platform has been designed to support multiple battery sizes and future models. According to the company, it has been developed using over 26 lakh kilometres of real-world riding data and is intended to improve efficiency, serviceability and manufacturing flexibility.

The scooter closely resembles the EL01 concept showcased last year, featuring a handlebar-mounted LED headlamp, upright front apron and flat floorboard. It also becomes Ather's first scooter to use metal body panels, replacing the polymer bodywork seen on the 450 series and Rizta.

The overall design appears to be aimed at everyday commuters rather than performance-focused riders.
