What Changes Inside?

The standout upgrade is in the middle row, which replaces the 3-seater bench with two individual captain chairs:

  • Individual Armrests: Both middle-row seats come equipped with dedicated, flip-up armrests for enhanced passenger comfort on long journeys.
  • Walk-Through Access to 3rd Row: The dedicated central aisle between the captain seats makes getting in and out of the third row considerably easier compared to tumbling a heavy bench seat.
  • Cabin Tech & Amenities: The rest of the tech-heavy interior remains unchanged. It retains the signature triple 12.3-inch screen dashboard consisting of the digital cluster, central infotainment, and co-passenger entertainment display, powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8295 chipset, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, an openable panoramic sunroof, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio, and Level 2+ ADAS.
The Exterior, first, and third rows remain virtually the same.

Market Positioning & Rivals

The 6-seater Mahindra XEV 9S enters a competitive 3-row electric family vehicle segment alongside the already existing 7-seater variants with key alternatives:

  • Kia Carens Clavis EV (₹17.99 Lakh – ₹24.99 Lakh): Offers 6 and 7-seater practicality at a lower entry price with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs offering up to 490 km of claimed range.
  • BYD eMAX 7 (₹26.90 Lakh – ₹29.90 Lakh): A dedicated electric MPV offering 6-seater captain and 7-seater bench layouts with 55.4 kWh and 71.8 kWh Blade Batteries packing from 420 to 530 km of range depending on the battery pack.

Powertrain, Performance & Battery Range Remain the Same

The 6-seater XEV 9S is available with two rear-wheel-drive (RWD) battery pack options:

  • 70 kWh Battery Pack: Capped at an output of 245 hp and 380 Nm of torque, delivering a maximum claimed driving range of 600 km (MIDC).
  • 79 kWh Battery Pack: Produces 286 hp and 380 Nm of torque, and pushes the maximum claimed driving range to up to 679 km on a single charge.
