Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Teased Ahead of August 15 Reveal: Here's What's New

Mahindra has teased a new BE 6 variant ahead of its Independence Day event on August 15, 2026. Called the BE 6 SPORTEQ, the new variant gets its biggest visible change inside the cabin: a new triple-screen dashboard.

Mahindra has not yet revealed the full car, so the teaser gives us a preview rather than the complete specification sheet.

The Big Change Is Inside

The current BE 6 uses two 12.3-inch screens. The SPORTEQ teaser shows a third display added for the front passenger, creating a full-width three-screen setup.

The three screens are reported to be 12.3 inches each, with the layout similar to what Mahindra already offers on newer models such as the XEV 9S and XUV 7XO. The SPORTEQ teaser shows the new three-screen setup, while the existing BE 6 continues with its current dual-screen layout.

The teaser also shows a tan/brown interior theme and a redesigned dashboard. A darker exterior treatment is visible as well, although Mahindra has not yet provided the full details of the exterior changes.

What About the Battery and Motor?

This is where it is worth waiting for Mahindra's official reveal.

No powertrain changes have been officially confirmed for the SPORTEQ yet.

The existing BE 6 is offered with 59kWh and 79kWh battery packs. The current range is 556km for the 59kWh version and up to 683km for the 79kWh version.

The two battery options are paired with different power outputs, with the 59kWh version producing 228hp and the 79kWh version producing 282hp, both with 380Nm.

These are the current BE 6 specifications, not confirmed SPORTEQ specifications, until Mahindra announces them.

Why Is Mahindra Updating the BE 6?

The SPORTEQ looks less like a new-generation BE 6 and more like a new, technology-focused version of the existing SUV.

The triple-screen setup brings the BE 6 closer to the cabin experience already offered by Mahindra's newer electric SUVs. It also gives Mahindra a way to add a more premium version to the BE 6 range without waiting for a full model update.

That could make the SPORTEQ particularly interesting for buyers who like the BE 6's design and performance but want a more technology-heavy cabin.

The Third Special Edition for the BE 6

The SPORTEQ is also not the first special edition Mahindra has created around the BE 6. The electric SUV has previously received the Batman Edition, inspired by the Dark Knight trilogy, and the Formula E Edition, drawing from Mahindra's Formula E racing programme.

The SPORTEQ would therefore become the third special edition of the BE 6. But unlike the earlier editions, which leaned more heavily into their themes and styling, the SPORTEQ appears to put greater emphasis on the cabin and technology, particularly the new triple-screen setup.

That gives Mahindra another way to keep the BE 6 fresh while adding a more premium feel to the range.

What Will It Cost?

Mahindra has not announced the SPORTEQ's price yet.

The current BE 6 range is priced between ₹18.90 lakh and ₹26.90 lakh ex-showroom. The SPORTEQ is expected to sit towards the top of the range, but its final positioning and price will only become clear when Mahindra reveals the car.

August 15 Will Fill in the Gaps

For now, Mahindra has confirmed the BE 6 SPORTEQ name and the new triple-screen cabin, while the teaser also gives us a look at its new interior treatment.

What remains to be confirmed includes the final price, variant positioning, battery and motor specifications, range, and the complete list of equipment.

That makes August 15 the important date.

The SPORTEQ doesn't appear to be a completely new electric SUV. Instead, Mahindra seems to be giving the BE 6 a more premium cabin and a fresh visual identity, while keeping the full details under wraps until the reveal.

For now, the third screen is the headline. On August 15, we'll find out what else Mahindra has changed.
