Mahindra has recently released a video of their new service center in Hyderabad, set to be an EV-exclusive center and is powered and operated by an all-woman team. Mahindra's all-women workshop initiative began as part of their "Pink Collars" program. While their newer REV care centers handle high-voltage BEV diagnostics and fast-charging infrastructure, Mahindra originally kicked off this all-women service concept by opening India's first completely women-run automotive workshop.

Mahindra is making monumental strides in reshaping both the electric vehicle landscape and automotive workforce diversity with the launch of pioneering service initiatives dedicated to empowering women and breaking long-standing industry barriers. By placing women technicians, entrepreneurs, and service professionals at the forefront of advanced EV maintenance, customer support, and last-mile mobility, the manufacturer is redefining what inclusion looks like in a traditionally male-dominated sector.

 

The First All-Women BEV Workshop

Built in partnership with Neon Mahindra, the facility operates as a an all EV Mahindra service center and workshop set to handle quick-turnaround maintenance and scheduled services, as well as full fledged repairs. Every operational role at the location, spanning technical mechanics, service advisors, parts managers, drivers, and security personnel, is staffed entirely by a team of around nine women who completed intensive technical training.
They can and will operate on all the Mahindra BEVs such as the XEV 9E, XEV 9S, BE 6, etc.
This follows in the footsteps of the all-woman mahindra service center that opened up in Jaipur back in 2019.
This setup dismantles long-held industry norms by placing women directly on the shop floor to handle heavy tools, wrench on mechanical components, manage spare parts inventories, and oversee facility security

Other EV Fields Where Women Are Making Strides

Beyond retail service bays and urban workshop layouts, women are increasingly expanding into diverse and high-impact segments of the electric vehicle ecosystem. Critical technical domains such as battery management system (BMS) software architecture, charging infrastructure deployment, thermal management R&D, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) system integration, and core power electronics design are opening up vast new avenues for engineering innovation and leadership.

Expanding on these foundational concepts to meet the demands of modern clean transport, the Mahindra WE (Women Entrepreneurs) Hunnar initiative which is run via Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML), has trained hundreds of women in specialized commercial and technical tracks. This broader program focuses on building core competencies across three- and four-wheeler driving, customer care executive duties, and foundational electric vehicle repair and maintenance. By facilitating official licensing, partnering with financial institutions for micro-loans, and collaborating with training bodies like the Lok Bharti Education Society, the initiative creates sustainable career paths for women across India's evolving mobility ecosystem.

 

 

Beyond its targeted automotive programs, the broader Mahindra Foundation anchors the corporation’s social responsibility efforts by driving grassroots female empowerment, health, and education initiatives across rural and urban communities. When paired with the rapid expansion of the electric vehicle space, where new technical disciplines in battery tech, software, and assembly are redefining manufacturing, these concerted efforts ensure that India's electric transition is matched stride-for-stride by an inclusive, diverse, and highly skilled workforce.
