A test mule of the Honda 0 Alpha EV has been spotted testing in Manali, with spy shots shared on Instagram by content creator Parth Gupta (@pxrtth.gpt). The sighting is consistent with Honda Cars India's confirmed pan-India public road verification programme, which was officially flagged off from the company's Tapukara manufacturing facility in Rajasthan on March 16, 2026. At the flagging off, Honda Cars India President and CEO Takashi Nakajima said: "India has unique driving and climate conditions. Testing in real world environments is crucial to meet the high expectations of our customers here." Manali — with its altitude, cold temperatures and challenging road conditions — fits squarely within that brief.

What the Exterior Reveals

The test mule wears a geometric wrap that conceals much of the body, but several details are still visible. The front end shows a distinctive headlamp and DRL arrangement — square and rectangular light elements that differ significantly from conventional headlamp designs. Whether this reflects the final production lighting signature or is partially an artefact of the wrap is difficult to confirm at this stage.

On the passenger side of the front fascia, what appears to be a charging port is visible — consistent with Honda's confirmation that the charge port will be integrated into the front end of the 0 Alpha. Two sensors are also visible on the front bumper, likely part of a parking or ADAS sensor array.

The side profile shows flush door handles and a clean, aerodynamic body. The rear door handles appear to be tucked into the C-pillar area — something Honda has confirmed for the production model. At the rear, vertical LED tail lamps are clearly visible, giving the car a distinctive upright light signature. A rear wiper is present, and two sensors are visible on the rear bumper.

What the Interior Reveals

The spy shots give a useful look inside the cabin. A large freestanding landscape touchscreen dominates the dashboard. A separate digital instrument cluster is visible behind the steering wheel. A dual climate control panel is visible below the main screen, indicating separate temperature zones for the driver and front passenger. The overall dashboard layout appears clean and wide.

What Honda Has Confirmed

Honda Cars India has confirmed the 0 Alpha will be manufactured at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan and exported to international markets including Japan — making India both a key domestic market and a global production hub for this model. The wheelbase is approximately 100mm longer than the Honda Elevate, which should translate to a more spacious cabin. The steering wheel will feature paddle shifters for controlling regenerative braking levels.

The commercial launch is confirmed for FY2026-27. Honda Cars India confirmed this at the ZR-V and City facelift launch event, with Q1 2027 — around the Bharat Mobility Global Expo — being the most likely window. Battery specifications, powertrain details and pricing have not been officially confirmed.
