Exclusive: 7-Seater Wuling Starlight 560 Spotted Charging in India; MG Launch
An ElecTree community member has exclusively spotted and shared image of a camouflaged Wuling Starlight 560 charging in Manali. JSW MG Motor India is expected to launch this 7-seater SUV in India with EV and PHEV powertrain options.
A heavily camouflaged test mule of the Wuling Starlight 560 has been spotted and exclusively shared with ElecTree by community member Mr. Dheeraj, who photographed the vehicle at the Grand Hotel in Manali. The image was shared exclusively with ElecTree's editor Ferrari Rules.
The vehicle was charging at an Adani charging station situated in the hotel's premises. According to Dheeraj, the test team mentioned they had charged the vehicle in Chandigarh and driven to Manali — a distance of approximately 300 km — arriving with 20% state of charge remaining. The driver declined to allow photographs of the front of the vehicle.
The test mule was part of a group on a Gujarat to Ladakh test drive, consistent with the vehicle's known testing base near JSW MG's Halol plant in Vadodara.
What Is the Wuling Starlight 560
The Wuling Starlight 560 is a 3-row, 7-seater SUV sold internationally under the Wuling and Xingguang names. JSW MG Motor India has filed a design patent for the vehicle in India without Wuling badging, confirming it will arrive as an MG product.
Dimensionally it is a large SUV — 4,745 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, 1,755 mm tall, on a 2,810 mm wheelbase. It has a boxy upright profile, roof rails, 18-inch alloys and a full-LED setup.
Powertrain Options Expected for India
Two powertrain options are being considered for India — both in 7-seater configuration.
The EV version uses a 56.7 kWh LFP battery with a front-mounted motor producing 136 bhp and 200 Nm. CLTC-rated range is 500 km. The motor and drivetrain setup is the same as the MG Windsor EV.
The PHEV version uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 20.5 kWh LFP battery. Combined output is 197 bhp and 230 Nm, with up to 100 km of EV-only range on the CLTC cycle.
The PHEV is expected to be JSW MG's first plug-in hybrid product for India. The pure ICE petrol variant is not expected to be offered here.
When and What to Expect
The Starlight 560 is expected to rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, Mahindra XEV 9S, VinFast MPV 7, Kia Carens Clavis EV and BYD eMax 7 in India. The PHEV version is expected by early 2027. The EV variant timeline has not been officially confirmed. Pricing is expected to start around ₹19 lakh.
