The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV is priced from ₹25.69 lakh to ₹27.79 lakh ex-showroom. The Exclusive 7 Seater is ₹25.69 lakh and the Essence 7 Seater is ₹27.79 lakh. Both are seven-seaters.

MG markets it as India’s first plug-in hybrid passenger vehicle. It pairs a 1.5 litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine with an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery that can be charged from a wall socket or a DC charger.

Under the Battery-as-a-Service programme the Tomahawk PHEV starts at ₹21.79 lakh ex-showroom, with battery rental charged at ₹3.2 per km. The Exclusive is ₹21.79 lakh and the Essence ₹23.89 lakh under BaaS.

MG claims over 115 km of all-electric range on the 20.5 kWh battery, and over 1,100 km of combined range with a full charge and a full 52 litre tank. Both figures are awaiting final certification.

MG has not published a certified kmpl figure yet. Working back from the claimed 1,100 km combined range and 115 km electric range across a 52 litre tank, petrol-only running works out to roughly 18.9 kmpl. Real world efficiency on a plug-in hybrid depends heavily on how often you charge it.

On a 25 kW DC fast charger the 20.5 kWh battery goes from 30% to 80% in about 35 minutes. On a 3.3 kW AC charger a 10 to 100% charge takes about 7.5 hours. Both variants come with a 3.3 kW portable charging cable and a 3.3 kW AC home charging box.

Pure EV runs on battery alone. Series Hybrid uses the engine as a generator while the motor drives the wheels. Parallel Hybrid Boost combines engine and motor for performance. Pure Engine sends engine power directly to the wheels. Engine Drive and Charge drives the wheels while charging the battery. Regeneration recovers energy while braking or descending.

The 1.5 litre petrol engine makes 75 kW at 5,800 rpm and 125 Nm between 4,600 and 5,000 rpm. The electric motor makes 148 kW and 237 Nm. MG has not published a combined system output, which is common for series-parallel hybrids because the engine and motor do not always contribute at the same time.

Yes, on the Essence. Vehicle-to-Home sends up to 3 kVA AC back into a house through a separately sold V2H unit. V2L and V2V are also offered at 3 kVA on the Essence. The Exclusive does not get any of the three.

Yes, but only on the Essence. It runs Autonomous Level 2 with 11 ADAS functions covering adaptive cruise control, bend cruise assistance, traffic jam assist, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, AEB with pedestrian detection, intelligent hydraulic braking assistance and intelligent headlamp control.

Six airbags are standard on both variants, comprising dual front, side and curtain airbags. Both also get ESP, traction control, hill hold control, ABS with EBD, brake assist, all four disc brakes, an electric parking brake with auto hold, a direct TPMS and the 360 degree HD camera with transparent chassis and wheel view.

192 litres with all three rows up, rising to 528 litres with the third row folded. The PHEV is offered only as a seven-seater, so there is no five-seat layout as there is on the Tomahawk EV.

The high voltage battery carries a lifetime warranty for the first owner on private registration. On ownership change or commercial registration it becomes 8 years or 1,60,000 km, whichever is earlier. Vehicle warranty is 3 years with unlimited kilometres, alongside 3 years of roadside assistance and three labour-free services.

Six colours are offered. Aurora Silver, Shadow Gold, Celadon Blue, Pearl White, Turquoise Green and Starry Black. Two dual-tone options are also available, Celadon Blue with a White roof and Turquoise Green with a Pearl White roof.
