Kia Sorento Strong Hybrid Price, Range, Specs & Variants

The Kia Sorento Strong Hybrid brings the third generation of Kia’s global three-row SUV to India as a self-charging hybrid. It is priced from ₹29.49 lakh to ₹40.19 lakh ex-showroom across ten variants. The same car is also sold with a 2.2 litre diesel, which is a separate listing.

The Black Line styling pack adds ₹20,000 over the HTK(A), HTX and HTX(A) trims. It blacks out the Kia and Sorento emblems, the alloy wheels, the fender garnish and the beltline, and changes nothing mechanical, so we have not listed it as a separate variant.

The powertrain is the Smartstream 1.6 litre turbo GDi petrol paired with an electric motor and a 6-speed automatic. The engine makes 132.4 kW, or 177.6 bhp, at 5,500 rpm and 265 Nm. The motor adds 47.7 kW, or 64 bhp, and 264 Nm between 1,500 and 4,500 rpm. Kia does not publish a combined system output.

A 1.49 kWh battery supports the motor. This is a strong hybrid, so there is no charging port and no plug. The battery recovers energy under braking and from the engine, and the car switches between electric and petrol drive on its own. A 220 V power outlet brings V2L capability, which Kia calls a first in the category.

HTE and HTE(O) are 7-seaters. From HTK upwards you can choose six or seven seats, with captain chairs in the six-seat layout. HTX and HTX(A) are all-wheel drive with Snow, Mud and Sand terrain modes. Everything below them is two-wheel drive.

ADAS follows the trim name. The (A) in HTK(A) and HTX(A) is the ADAS pack. HTK(A) gets ADAS Level 2 with 21 autonomous features. HTX(A) steps up to ADAS Level 2+ with 29, adding Highway Driving Assist, navigation-based smart cruise control for zones and curves, evasive steering assist and remote smart parking assist. HTE, HTE(O), HTK and HTX get no ADAS.

Airbag count rises with the range. HTE through HTK(A) get 7 airbags. HTX and HTX(A) get 10, adding rear seat side airbags and a centre side airbag to the dual front, front side, curtain and driver knee bags already fitted.

Every variant gets ESC, traction control, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist, downhill brake control, disc brakes on all four wheels, a highline tyre pressure monitor, ISOFIX, a rear occupant alert, a rollover sensor and multi-collision braking. HTX onwards adds a 360 degree camera, blind view monitor in the cluster and 12 parking sensors with 5 radars.

Inside, HTE and HTK use a Smoky Black and Grey two-tone theme. HTX onwards moves to Premium Black and Olive Brown. The top trims get a panoramic curved display with twin 31.24 cm screens, a head-up display, a Bose system with 12 speakers, 64 colour ambient lighting, a 12-way Ergo Motion driver seat, ventilated front and rear seats and a dual pane panoramic sunroof.

Kia Connect 2.0 runs 85 plus connected features with over-the-air updates for 30 controllers, Digital Key 2.0, remote seat ventilation and the Kia AI Assistant with real-time generative AI. Kia Connect comes with a three year subscription.

The Sorento measures 4,815 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,785 mm tall with the bridge type roof rack, on a 2,815 mm wheelbase. Boot space is 179 litres with all three rows up and 813 litres with the third row folded. The fuel tank holds 67 litres. Wheels are R18 on HTE and HTE(O) and R19 from HTK upwards, with a steel spare.

Eight colours are offered. Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier White Pearl, Magma Red, Ivory Silver, Gravity Gray, Imperial Blue, Pewter Olive and Dark Gun Metal in matte, the last of which is exclusive to HTX and above.

Kia covers the car for 3 years with unlimited kilometres, extendable to 5 years, with 3 years of roadside assistance. The high voltage battery carries a separate 8 year or 1,60,000 km warranty.
