Epic EV Road Trip: Conquering Over 2,000 km from Greater Noida to Goa in the Mahindra BE 6

In the world of electric vehicles, long-distance road trips in India are no longer just a dream—they're a thrilling reality. As EV adoption surges across the country, stories like this one prove that with the right planning and a reliable ride, you can hit the highways without a hitch. Enter Rishi Tripathi, an avid EV enthusiast who recently embarked on an unforgettable journey from Greater Noida to Goa in his Mahindra BE 6 (Pack 3 variant with a 79 kWh battery). Spanning three days in late September 2025, this 2,005 km adventure wasn't just about reaching the destination; it was about embracing the open road, scenic detours and the evolving EV infrastructure in India.

Setting Off: From Greater Noida to the Open Highways

Rishi kicked off his drive along with his wife on September 26, 2025, at 6:30 PM, starting with a full 100% state of charge (SoC). They both shared driving responsibilities (who will pass an opportunity to drive this wonderful EV?) The route hugged the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, weaving through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra before descending into Goa. What started with a bit of range anxiety quickly turned into confidence as the Mahindra BE 6 handled everything thrown its way—straight highways, winding ghats and even rain-damaged patches between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Ahmednagar.

The vehicle performed like a champ, maintaining an impressive efficiency of 7.7 km/kWh with the AC running at 25°C throughout. Regen braking on Auto/L0 mode helped maximize range and the total driving time clocked in at around 44 hours. Charging stops were strategic, blending in with meals, naps and sightseeing, totaling just six sessions over six hours at a modest cost of about ₹5,947. That is ₹3 per km (slightly less).

Challenges and Triumphs Along the Way

No road trip is without its bumps and Rishi's was no exception. Heavy rains caused delays and even a power cut at one charging station in Julwania, Madhya Pradesh. Charger speeds varied—some delivered a solid 90 kW, while others slowed due to sharing or technical hiccups. But these moments were offset by the joys of exploration. Travellers always make the statement “It is not about the destination but the journey!” An overnight stop in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar allowed time to visit the stunning Ellora Caves and Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga, turning a pit stop into a cultural highlight. They even made a makeshift bed in the car like true enthusiasts..

Rishi notes that the BE 6's stability shone on uphill climbs and scenic routes, even loaded with luggage. "The overall drive experience had been fantastic," he shared, praising how the EV conquered diverse terrains without breaking a sweat.

Scenic Detours: The Heart of the Adventure

What made this EV road trip truly special were the detours. After navigating through Maharashtra, Rishi veered off for a 30 km uphill jaunt to Panchgani, rewarding himself with panoramic hill station views and a sunrise that made the early start worthwhile. From there, it was a smooth downhill glide into Goa, arriving at Kadamba Plateau on Old Goa Road by September 29, with 41% SoC left after the final 225 km leg.

Temperatures ranged from 19°C to 35°C and average speeds fluctuated—hitting 72 kmph on open highways but slowing to 18 kmph during sightseeing. Yet, these pauses added flavor to the journey, proving that EV travel encourages a more mindful pace.

Pulling into Goa after 2,005 km, Rishi's initial skepticism about India's EV charging network had evaporated. "Built huge confidence in EV infrastructure," he reflected, already plotting more detours for the return leg. This trip underscores how electric vehicles like the Mahindra BE 6 are ready for India's diverse roads, blending efficiency with eco-friendly travel.
