Mahindra Brings New Drive Mode in XEV 9S to Solve Suspension Problem
Mahindra Electric will provide a new drive mode in their electric 7 seater XEV 9S. The new mode; Custom will allow users to choose a firmer suspension which was flagged too soft by media personnel during launch drives.
Mahindra Electric has added a new drive mode; “Custom” to the newly launched XEV 9S. The 7 seater electric vehicle came with Default, Range, Everyday and Race mode when it was launched in November 2025.
Why Custom Mode was Introduced?
During the media drives many had raised concerns regarding the softer suspension at high speeds in some drive modes. The drivers were feeling a bouncy vertical motion. The problem was not faced in the Race mode. Due to higher performance and lower efficiency in Race mode, the technical authorities at Mahindra were made aware of the trade-off. In response they have now provided the ‘Custom’ mode which allow drivers to choose different options of Power, Steering and Suspension. So someone can still select a lower power from the Range mode but a stiffer suspension of the Race mode.
This new mode will be available in the Pack 3 and Pack 3 Above variants which are equipped with Intelligent Adaptive Suspension which can be updated via OTA software updates. The lower trims Pack 1 Above and Pack 2 Above are equipped with Passive Suspension and thus will not get this update. The lower trims have not been independently road tested as well.
Mahindra has started the deliveries of the XEV 9S Pack 3 and Pack 3 Above in February after initially deliveries were planned to commence on January 26, 2026.
