Tata Punch EV Facelift Set for February 20 Debut; Compact EV Gets Upgrades, Including Faster Charging

Tata Motors is preparing to launch the facelifted Punch EV on February 20, 2026, with styling tweaks, feature updates and a recent charging upgrade that boosts fast-charge capability to around 42 kW.

Tata Motors has confirmed that it will unveil the facelifted version of its Punch EV on February 20, 2026, adding further momentum to its expanding electric vehicle lineup in India. The launch date was shared via a public social media post that outlined the upcoming debut of the updated compact electric SUV.

The Punch EV, which has emerged as one of the more popular small electric SUVs in India, is expected to receive visual and feature enhancements as part of the facelift. While full official specifications for the facelifted model have not yet been released, existing technical and feature details help frame what buyers might expect.

The Tata Punch EV starts from ₹9.99 Lakh for the base variant Tata Punch EV Smart and top spec variant Tata Punch EV Empowered Plus S LR is priced at ₹13.79 Lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered with two battery pack options: a 25 kWh pack and a 35 kWh pack. These packs deliver ARAI driving ranges of approximately 315 km and 421 km respectively under standard testing cycles. The Punch EV also uses a single motor driving the front wheels and prioritizes city-centric usability and compact package convenience.

Charging Upgrade Brings Noticeable Improvement

In addition to the upcoming facelift, Tata Motors recently enabled a software-level improvement in the Punch EV’s DC fast-charging performance. The update allows the vehicle to accept charging at approximately 1.2C, which translates to around 42 kW on a compatible DC fast charger. This is an improvement over earlier charging behaviour and helps reduce time spent at public fast chargers, especially on longer trips where highway charging becomes necessary.

This updated charging capability is a notable enhancement for a compact EV, as it broadens practical usability — particularly for urban owners making occasional highway journeys.

What to Expect at the Launch

  • At its February 20 debut, Tata is expected to share:
  • Finalized facelifted exterior design
  • Interior and feature upgrades
  • Updated charging capability details
  • Pricing and variant structure

The Punch EV facelift arrives in an increasingly competitive segment, where rivals are also refreshing their EV lineups or introducing new models. With the facelift and charging upgrades, Tata appears to be focusing on consolidating its position in the compact electric SUV category.

Why This Matters

The Punch EV plays an important role in Tata’s electric vehicle strategy. Its compact size, practical range options and relatively lower price positioning have made it a strong choice among urban buyers and first-time EV adopters in India.

Improvements such as a charging upgrade and facelifted design reflect wider industry trends where feature and tech enhancements are increasingly part of mid-cycle product refreshes, rather than simple cosmetic updates.

As India’s EV market continues to grow — driven by range improvements, infrastructure expansion and increasing model availability — vehicles like the Punch EV represent an accessible entry point for many mainstream buyers.
