Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Price, Range, Specs & Variants

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella is Toyota’s first battery electric vehicle for India, priced at ₹23.60 lakh ex-showroom. It is offered in a single fully loaded E3 variant. The Ebella shares its platform and much of its hardware with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, and is built at the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat.

A 61 kWh Lithium Iron-Phosphate pack drives a front-mounted motor rated at 171.7 bhp, or 128 kW, and 193 Nm. Drive goes to the front wheels through a single speed transmission. Kerb weight is 1,815 kg and gross vehicle weight 2,250 kg.

Toyota claims 543 km of range, certified by ARAI to the AIS 040 Rev.1 test procedure.

Charging is through a Type 2 vehicle connector with a CCS2 inlet for DC fast charging. A portable charge cable is supplied and the car is compatible with a 7.2 kW AC wall mount charger. A 7.2 kW AC charger takes the pack from 10% to 100% in about 9 hours, and a DC rapid charger of 70 kW or more takes it from 10% to 80% in about 45 minutes. Toyota does not quote charging times itself, so these are the figures published for the mechanically identical e Vitara Alpha 61 kWh.

The design follows what Toyota calls its Urban Tech philosophy, with a hammerhead front, three dimensional surfaces, 18 inch aerodynamic alloys, an aerodynamic underbody and a roof end spoiler. Lighting is LED throughout, with LED DRLs, auto headlights with auto levelling, a welcome home lamp and ORVM side turn indicators. Dual-tone paint is offered on selected colours.

Inside there is a 10.1 inch multimedia screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25 inch TFT combimeter, a two spoke squircle steering wheel, a floating centre console with a dial shift selector, ambient lighting in 12 colours and a panoramic roof with fixed glass. Audio is a JBL premium system with four speakers, a tweeter, a subwoofer and an IP speaker.

Seats are synthetic leather and fabric, with a power driver seat, ventilated front seats, 40:20:40 split rear seats that slide and recline, and a reclining rear seat cushion. Comfort equipment covers auto climate control with rear vents, a wireless smartphone charger, an air purifier with PM 2.5 filter, four USB sockets, an electronic tailgate release and a snow mode switch.

Safety covers 7 airbags, comprising driver, passenger, front side, curtain and a driver knee airbag. There is a panoramic 360 degree monitor camera, front and rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and VSC, hill hold control, multi-collision braking, ISOFIX, TPMS, a security alarm and an acoustic vehicle alerting system. Note that the brochure lists a conventional back camera as not fitted, with the 360 degree system taking its place.

The Advanced Driver Assistance System covers adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, stagger warning, blind spot monitor, the pre-collision system and an adaptive high beam system.

The Ebella measures 4,285 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,640 mm tall unladen, on a 2,700 mm wheelbase, with a 5.2 metre minimum turning radius and five seats. Boot space is 238 litres. Suspension is a MacPherson strut with stabiliser at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear, with 18 inch ventilated discs at both ends and an electric parking brake. Wheels are 225/55 R18 with an 18 inch alloy spare.

Nine colours are offered. Five monotone, Sportin’ Red, Café White, Enticing Silver, Gaming Grey and Bluish Black, and four dual-tone, Sportin’ Red, Café White, Enticing Silver and Land Breeze Green. The dual-tone finish costs ₹20,000 extra.

Ownership cover includes an 8 year warranty on the electric battery, a 60% assured buyback after 3 years, Battery-as-a-Service, 24x7 roadside assistance and express maintenance in 45 minutes. Toyota lists 1,300 plus BEV-enabled service touchpoints across 900 plus cities.
