In an automotive landscape that is moving to electrification at warp speed, the Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+ is an exceptional entry point into the luxury EV space. Targeted to appeal to the modern Indian customer, the compact electric SUV embodies Mercedes-Benz's progressive and proactive approach to sustainability, without forsaking the traditional hallmarks of comfort, technology and style.
The EQA 250+ is more than just an electric car; it should be fully embraced as a smart transition from internal combustion engines to battery-powered vehicles.
In a lineup that also features the bold Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 4Matic, the spacious Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 4Matic, and the practical Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4Matic, the EQA 250+ finds its niche among young professionals, city drivers, and first-time EV adopters.
From the first point of view, the Mercedes EQA 250 exudes class. It has a bespoke black grille finished in a dark chrome, with illuminated star, the continuous LED light bar and the AMG alloy wheels, the SUV, oozes sophistication without being ostentatious. Many people are apprehensive about the brazen designs EVs can often project, however, the EQA 250+ sits perfectly between being futuristic while, also strikingly similar to the SUV of yesterday's combustion attempts.
Inside? It is unmistakably Mercedes. It has Articulo leather upholstery, rose gold AC vents, ambient lighting with a plethora of colour options for individualisation and when combined with the panoramic sunroof make each journey into an event. It is a luxury without extravagance; graceful, easy, and inviting.
If the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic and Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 4Matic take ultra-luxury and room to the limits, the EQA 250+ nails a long list of rich features in a small footprint. A 10.25-inch MBUX infotainment system with augmented reality navigation, high-resolution, digital instrument cluster, Burmester surround sound system, and head-up display restore the fun in driving.
For everyday practicality, consumers will appreciate wireless smartphone charging, five USB-C ports, Nappa leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, and electric front seats with memory function. Gesture control and voice inputs complement other familiar user experience elements. Illuminated door sills make stylish first impressions to welcome everyday voices and personalities.
When it comes to safety, the EQA 250+ does not skimp. Like its older siblings—the Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 4Matic and EQB 350 4Matic—this SUV emphasizes safety. It comes with a total of 7 airbags (including a knee airbag) Blind Spot Assist, 360-degree camera, adaptive high beam assist, park assist, TPMS, brake assist, and, of course, the signature Pre-Safe collision system from Mercedes. ISOFIX points and run-flat tyres mean this dual-motor small SUV is designed for families.
As a plus, it features an emergency SOS system and acoustic environmental protection from pedestrians—an important aspect of being in an urban environment.
Power, Performance & Range
The Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+ is powered by a 70.5 kWh lithium-ion battery providing a maximum range of 560 km, according to the WLTP test cycle. It has an output of 188 bhp and 385 Nm of torque, and it achieves 0–100 kmph in 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 160 kmph. Although it is not as aggressive as the EQS 580 4Matic in launch performance, it has a silky ride that is quiet and satisfying.
Charging is fast and versatile. The battery can charge from 10% to 80% in just 35 minutes with DC fast charging (up to 100 kW). The full charge can be completed in just over 7 hours with an 11 kW AC wallbox - ideal for charging at home overnight.
The Perfect First Luxury EV
The Mercedes EQA 250 shows very clearly that you do not need to sacrifice sophistication when going electric. It is well-equipped, well-built, well-suited for roads and lifestyle in India. Whether you are moving up from a traditional vehicle or entering the Mercedes family electric vehicles. The EQA 250+ is a well-balanced luxury and practical vehicle.
Not to mention Mercedes-Benz's expanding electric vehicle portfolio - from the trailblazing Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic to the stylish Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 4Matic, the EQA 250+ makes the entry into the electric future less of a leap and more of a well-paved road ahead.
