Mahindra Begins XEV 9S Deliveries in India, First Unit Handed Over in Nagpur

Mahindra has commenced deliveries of the XEV 9S in India, with the first retail unit handed over in Nagpur. Deliveries in South India are set to begin this week, followed by North India next week.

Mahindra has officially commenced deliveries of its XEV 9S electric SUV in India, with the first retail unit handed over in Nagpur in the West region.

The inaugural delivery was carried out by Provincial Automobile Nagpur, marking the beginning of the model’s customer rollout in the country. The development comes after the company had originally indicated that deliveries would begin on January 26, 2026.

Sources within the company confirmed that while the initial plan targeted a late-January start, retail deliveries have now formally begun, with a phased regional rollout strategy in place.

A Broader Phase in EV Rollout Strategy

The XEV 9S is Mahindra’s first dedicated three-row electric SUV targeting family buyers and significantly expands the company’s EV portfolio, which already includes models such as the XEV 9e and BE6. The vehicle was launched in late 2025 amid strong market interest and rising bookings.

Industry data suggests that bookings for Mahindra’s newly launched models — including the XEV 9S and the XUV 7XO — crossed 93,000 units with a combined booking value exceeding ₹20,500 crore by mid-January 2026, reflecting a strong demand trend.

Specifications and Market Position

The XEV 9S is available in multiple variants with battery options ranging from 59 kWh to 79 kWh, offering claimed ARAI-tested driving ranges of approximately 521 km to 679 km per full charge, depending on the pack selected.

Pricing for the electric SUV starts at ₹19.95 lakh (ex-showroom) for XEV 9S Pack 1 Above and extends up to ₹29.45 lakh (ex-showroom) for XEV 9S Pack 3 Above, placing it in a competitive segment of larger EV offerings while delivering three-row seating and family-oriented packaging.

The XEV 9S’s battery options and performance make it one of the more practical family electric SUVs currently offered in India’s expanding EV market.

Looking Ahead

With deliveries underway in the West and imminent rollout in other regions, the XEV 9S is poised to become one of the more visible electric SUVs on Indian roads through early 2026.

Mahindra has not yet released official nationwide delivery figures, but given rising sector momentum and the SUV’s positioning, analysts see the model as a key part of the company’s EV growth strategy.
