Mahindra Me4U App Rolls Out Battery Health Reminders for Born Electric Lineup

Mahindra's Me4U app now alerts all Born Electric vehicle owners synced to it—like XEV 9e and BE 6e—for periodic 100% charges, ensuring battery health without daily full cycles—a smart nudge other OEMs should replicate.

Mahindra's Me4U connected car app is enhancing EV ownership with timely notifications urging owners of its Born Electric vehicles to perform occasional full charges to 100% state-of-charge (SOC). Shared by XEV 9e users on social media, the alert states: "Hey there! We have noticed that your vehicle's HV battery has not been charged to 100% SOC for a while now... Periodic charging to 100% SOC helps balance battery cells and ensures long-term efficiency and range."

Applicable to all Born Electric models synced to Me4U—including the XEV 9e, BE 6, and upcoming XEV 9S—this feature promotes optimal battery management. For the LFP batteries used in these EVs, routine 80-90% charging minimizes daily stress, but full cycles are recommended occasionally to recalibrate cells, preventing imbalances that could affect capacity over time. Sent via push notifications, it avoids performance dips without promoting constant top-ups.

Owners of the 59kWh and 79 kWh packs in these models report smoother range retention, aligning with Mahindra's lifetime battery warranty for the first owner. The app's proactive approach—monitoring patterns without intrusiveness—sets a new standard in connected EVs.

EV experts commend it as a user-friendly innovation. "Such reminders empower owners to maximize longevity." says owner Himanshu Joshi. With Tata's iRA and MG's i-Smart focusing on diagnostics, competitors should integrate similar SOC balancing alerts to foster healthier batteries and fewer service visits.

As India's EV fleet grows, Me4U exemplifies how software can simplify sustainability—proving small nudges yield big gains.
