Tesla Model Y L Charges 20-80% in 31 Minutes, Zeon Test Shows

Zeon Charging's real-world test of the Tesla Model Y L shows a 249 kW peak and a 20-80% charge in 31 minutes, closely matching Tesla's own claimed 250 kW spec.

Zeon Charging has published the first real-world charging curve for the Tesla Model Y Long Wheelbase in India, tested at their Chitradurga station on a 400 kW Alpitronic charger. The car initiated charging at 14% SoC and charged from 20% to 80% in 31 minutes. Zeon claims this added up to 200 km of range in just 15 minutes. Tesla's own claimed spec for the car is a 250 kW DC peak, so the real-world number lines up almost exactly. The Model Y L launched in India in April 2026 at ₹61.99 lakh, and is equipped with an 88 kWh battery pack with NMC chemistry supplied by LG Energy Solution.

How the Curve Behaves

The Model Y L holds its highest charging power only briefly. At the initial 14% state of charge, it was pulling 241 kW and by 26% that had barely moved to 240 kW. From there, the power falls down to 122 kW by 33% SOC before settling into a steadier and more gradual taper through the rest of the session: 116 kW at 55%, 75 kW at 69%, 61 kW at 83%, and 28 kW by 96%.

Why Zeon's Chitradurga Station is Important

Hitting 249 kW isn't just about the charger's power rating. At peak, the Model Y L was drawing close to 600A at roughly 400V, a current level that demands serious hardware on the charger's end, not just a high kW badge.

That's precisely the class of charger Zeon has deployed at Chitradurga — a 400 kW Alpitronic unit capable of supplying the current a car like the Model Y L and other luxury cars can actually use. Private charge point operators building out this kind of high-power infrastructure matter more than usual for Tesla owners in India, since Tesla's own Supercharger network remains limited to just five locations nationwide. They are also restricted to Tesla vehicles only which prohibits other cars with fast charging capability charging at Tesla chargers. Third-party ultra-fast chargers like Zeon's are effectively what puts full-speed charging within reach for luxury EV owners who require fast charging while on the move.
