Mercedes-Benz  India has confirmed that the new-generation GLB EV will be introduced in the Indian market. The confirmation was made by Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, during a discussion of the company's half-yearly sales performance. No launch timeline, variant lineup, or pricing was disclosed for the India-spec model.

The GLB EV made its global debut in December 2025, built on Mercedes-Benz's MMA (Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture) platform, which also underpins the CLA. The model is already on sale in select international markets, including the United Kingdom, providing an indication of what may eventually be offered in India.

The GLB EV retains the boxy, upright silhouette of its combustion-engined counterpart, with a sealed front grille featuring an illuminated star pattern and flush-mounted door handles marking it out as the electric version.

Powertrain and Range

Mercedes-Benz offers the GLB EV globally in two variants, a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive version and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version. Both use the same 85kWh battery pack, though power output and range differ between them.

The 631km range figure applies specifically to the GLB 250+; Mercedes-Benz has not published an official range figure for the GLB 350 4MATIC. WLTP-claimed range is up to 631 km. Both variants are built on an 800-volt electrical architecture, which supports the stated charging capability of up to 320kW. A 10-minute charge at a compatible fast charger can add up to 260km of range. Adaptive dampers are offered as an option in international markets.

Built on an 800V architecture, the GLB EV supports DC fast charging at up to 320kW, adding up to 260km of range in just 10 minutes.

Mercedes-Benz India has not specified which variant, or variants, will be offered locally.

Design

The GLB EV retains much of the design language of its combustion-engined counterpart, including the vehicle's upright stance, connected LED light bars, and squared wheel arches. The primary visual distinction is at the front, where the standard grille is replaced by a sealed panel featuring an illuminated star pattern. The model also gets flush-mounted door handles.

The GLB EV is offered in both five-seat and seven-seat configurations internationally.

Interior and Technology

Higher trims are equipped with Mercedes-Benz's MBUX Superscreen, comprising a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch central touchscreen, and an additional display for the front passenger. These are integrated through the company's proprietary MB.OS software, which includes AI functionality developed in partnership with Microsoft, Google, and ChatGPT-4o.

Additional features available on international models include over-the-air software updates, integrated Google Maps, a panoramic glass roof with adjustable opacity, configurable ambient lighting, a Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos, and a driver-assistance suite.

The MBUX Superscreen setup includes a 10.25-inch driver display, a 14-inch central touchscreen, and a dedicated screen for the front passenger.

Pricing

In the United Kingdom, the model is priced between £46,100 and £56,800. As the GLB EV is expected to be brought to India as a completely built-up (CBU) unit, applicable import duties are likely to result in a significantly higher price locally. Based on comparable CBU pricing trends, an estimated price of around ₹80 lakh (ex-showroom) is possible.
