The Hyundai Creta Electric, which was unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, is Hyundai's entry into the electric SUV segment in India, based on the facelifted version of the popular Hyundai Creta. The all-electric variant is equipped with major updates and enhancements, and it is a significant player in the electric vehicle space.
The Creta Electric is offered with two battery pack choices – a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh battery. The two choices provide for various needs, with the range being 390 km and 473 km, respectively, on a fully charged battery. This makes the Creta Electric a very suitable choice for daily commutes as well as for longer trips on the road.
The SUV is also equipped with a solitary electric motor, which allows it to accelerate 0-100 km/h in a mere 7.9 seconds, providing responsive and smooth acceleration.
Although it is not built for high-performance driving thrills, the power is more than enough for driving around cities and cruising on highways.
The Hyundai Creta Electric maintains the aggressive, muscular stance of its ICE counterpart with a few important design tweaks to accentuate its electric persona. The front and rear bumpers, as well as the new skid plates, provide it with an aggressive look.
Among the most important upgrades is the new grille with built-in charging port in place of the traditional grille used on the ICE version. The vehicle also has all-LED lights, roof rails, and LED light bars not only to beautify the car but also enhance its aerodynamics.
The 17-inch alloy wheels have aero inserts, which not only improve efficiency but also bring a sporty touch to the overall design. The 'Electric' badge at the rear end is a tasteful yet prominent reminder of the car's green powertrain.
Inside the Creta Electric, there's a feel of contemporary luxury with premium materials and a tech-led cabin. There are dual 10.25-inch displays inside the SUV – one for infotainment and another for the digital instrument display.
The two screens provide the premium feel as well as promise hassle-free connectivity with options such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Hyundai's BlueLink connectivity cluster. The interior also features a dual-zone climate control system, ventilated front seats for comfort in warmer weather, and a 360-degree camera system for increased convenience and safety.
The charging features of the Creta Electric are made with practicality and convenience in mind for the Indian market. The vehicle has the ability to support fast charging, enabling drivers to charge their car up to 80% in a matter of minutes, cutting down on downtime.
For people who use home charging, the car is also compatible with standard home charging stations, allowing one to charge at night and have the car ready for the next day's travel.
All the variants come with six airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors. There's also a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System that includes lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.
Not only does this aspect put added safety features into perspective for passengers, but it also adds another layer of peace of mind for those who land on the wheel of this SUV for longer distances.
The driving experience in the Creta Electric is efficient and smooth; it is very comfortable and cushy for city and urban roads. While it is not the sportiest electric SUV to drive in terms of driving dynamics, it offers an overall nice driving experience to the majority of users. Predictable car handling makes city driving easy, while the instant torque of the electric motor is another plus. However, its similarity to the ICE version may potentially make for a less exciting driving experience for one looking for thrills.
While it may not provide the sportiest driving experience of some other electric vehicles, it combines practicality, range, and features well enough to put it as one of the very strong contenders in the race of an upcoming hearing electric SUV market.
