4,417 km Round Trip from Bengaluru to Bihar in Mahindra BE 6

Join Abhilash on an electrifying 4,417 km round trip from Bengaluru to Bihar in a Mahindra BE 6, tackling fast chargers, wedding vibes, and highway thrills—all for just ₹1 per passenger per km.

Embarking on a massive road trip in an electric vehicle across India sounds like a bold move, especially when it's a round trip from Bengaluru to the heart of Bihar for a wedding. That's exactly what Abhilash, the proud owner of a Mahindra BE 6, pulled off with two more passengers. Clocking 4,417 km over five days, this journey wasn't just about reaching the destination but highlighted how far EVs have come in handling India's diverse highways and unexpected detours. With the car's 79 kWh battery delivering an impressive 6.8 km/kWh efficiency, the trio zipped through states like Karnataka, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, blending high-speed thrills with cultural pit stops.

The adventure kicked off on a February morning in Bengaluru, with the BE 6 fully charged and ready for the ultimate test. Abhilash, heading to a friend's wedding in Madhubani, Bihar, opted for the Everyday drive mode most of the way, but switched to Race mode on the return for some exhilarating overtakes. "The car is very special," Abhilash shared. "I nowhere in the journey felt any difference to riding any other vehicle. Kudos to Mahindra for making such a wonderful machine." This sentiment echoed throughout the trip, as the BE 6's stability at high speeds and agile handling turned heads, even when loaded with three cabin bags.

Charging Experience

Charging was the real test, relying on a mix of fast chargers scattered along NH44. Highlights included a smooth 120 kW session at a Statiq charger in Mohgaon, Madhya Pradesh, where they topped up to 100% SoC in just 90 minutes. A BMW iX1 blocking the nearby planned BPCL station stop forced a quick switch to this backup charger. In Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh, luck wasn't as kind; another EV hogged the Jio BP Pulse 60 kW charger, stretching a planned quick stop into a longer wait. "Had planned for quick charge and dinner stop, but bad luck another EV came in," Abhilash noted. Upon his arrival in Bihar he charged at the hotel in Madhubani, using a humble 3 kW socket in the afternoon and overnight while enjoying wedding festivities. The car even got washed and decorated for the baraat procession.

The return leg added flavor with a night time detour in Hyderabad, where the group savored shawarma, falooda and enjoyed a Ramzan vibe around Charminar. Fast chargers like the 180 kW Mahindra Charge_IN in Andhra Pradesh, kept things efficient, delivering a rapid 26 minute boost to 90% SoC. Challenges popped up, from offline stations in Nizamabad forcing a reroute to slower averages on Bihar's roads (around 47 km/h outbound), but the BE 6 handled it all without a hitch.

Cost-wise, this EV odyssey proved wallet-friendly. Total charging expenses tallied ₹13,316 across 13 stops, working out to about ₹3 per km for the vehicle. Split among three passengers, that's roughly ₹1 per passenger per km—far cheaper than fuel guzzlers on similar routes, especially with no toll details adding extra burden. It's a testament to how EVs like the Mahindra BE 6 are making long-distance travel in India more accessible and eco-friendly.

This trip isn't just a log; it's inspiration for EV enthusiasts eyeing cross-country drives. Abhilash's seamless experience shows that with smart planning around fast chargers and a reliable EV like the BE 6, India's vast landscapes are more conquerable than ever.
