Hero MotoCorp's electric mobility brand, VIDA, has launched the VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh, a new variant added to the top of its VX2 electric scooter lineup. It is priced at an effective ex-showroom rate of ₹1,43,990 in New Delhi, inclusive of applicable subsidies and current offers; one report lists a separate pre-offer figure of ₹1,50,990, so buyers should confirm the applicable on-road price with their local dealer. Deliveries are expected to begin across India by the end of July 2026.

This launch arrives the same week as two other electric two-wheeler debuts, the Keeway Hypevolt-R and the Revolt RVX.

Lineup and Positioning

The VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh joins the existing VX2 Plus 3.4 kWh rather than replacing it, taking the VIDA VX2 range to four principal configurations: VX2 Go 2.2 kWh, VX2 Go 3.4 kWh, VX2 Plus 3.4 kWh, and VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh. The Go and Plus trims differ in equipment level; the 4.4 kWh battery is offered exclusively on the Plus trim.

Battery and Range

The variant uses two removable 2.2 kWh lithium-ion battery packs, combining for a total capacity of 4.4 kWh, each rated to an IP67 ingress-protection standard. VIDA's official specifications list an IDC-certified range of 187 km, compared with 146 km for the VX2 Plus 3.4 kWh, a difference of 41 km, or roughly 28%.

Charging

VIDA supplies the VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh with a new 1 kW portable charger, up from the 580W unit bundled with the 3.4 kWh variant. A 0-80% charge via the portable charger takes 3 hours 17 minutes, and a full 0-100% charge takes 5 hours 8 minutes. DC fast charging reduces these to 65 minutes (0-80%) and 2 hours 30 minutes (0-100%), respectively. VIDA states it operates over 5,900 public fast-charging stations and more than 700 sales and service touchpoints across India.

Motor and Performance

The scooter uses a permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) rated at 6 kW peak power and 26 Nm of torque, the same motor as the VX2 Plus 3.4 kWh. Claimed top speed rises to 90 km/h, up from 80 km/h on the 3.4 kWh variant, while the claimed 0-40 km/h acceleration time is unchanged at 3.1 seconds. Three riding modes are available: Eco (capped at 45 km/h), Ride (up to 70 km/h), and Sport (the full 90 km/h), along with a temporary Boost function for overtaking.

Dimensions, Weight, and Equipment

The VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh has a seat height of 777 mm and a kerb weight of 120 kg, 5 kg more than the VX2 Plus 3.4 kWh, attributed to the additional battery pack. Under-seat storage remains unchanged at 27.2 litres. The scooter rides on tubeless tyres and alloy wheels, and uses a combined braking system (CBS); anti-lock braking is not offered on this model.

Standard equipment includes a 4.3-inch colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, over-the-air software updates, a front apron USB charging port, and additional cubby storage in the front apron. Regenerative braking is included, activated automatically while decelerating or manually via the two-way throttle, along with a reverse mode limited to 3 km/h. VIDA quotes a running cost of ₹0.17/km, a manufacturer estimate that will vary with local electricity tariffs and riding style. The scooter is offered in seven colours: Matte Giallo Lime, Nexus Blue, Matt Inspired White, Pearl Red, Pearl Black, Autumn Orange, and Metallic Matt Gun Metal Grey.

Purchase Options

Buyers can purchase the VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh outright, with batteries included, at the quoted price. VIDA also continues to offer a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan, under which the scooter is purchased at a lower upfront cost and the battery is paid for separately through a subscription or usage-linked structure. As with other BaaS schemes, the total cost depends on the specific subscription terms, including any minimum monthly usage commitment and the applicable per-kilometre charge, which should be checked against the outright purchase price before deciding.

Endurance Record

Ahead of the commercial launch, VIDA operated a pre-production VX2 Plus over a 12,111 km route from Bengaluru to Delhi across 52 consecutive days, covering cities associated with the Kolkata Knight Riders IPL franchise.

The ride, completed by rider Girish Shet, was recognised by the Asia Book of Records for the "Longest Journey by an Electric Scooter." The result reflects a controlled, purpose-built demonstration rather than typical ownership conditions, though it is intended by VIDA to illustrate the durability of the scooter and its charging network over long distances.
